Ka-ching. That's the sound the lawyers of this 15-year old are hearing! A 15-year-old Melbourne student is suing the Victorian Education Department and the State Government for failing to teach him literacy and numeracy, and for future loss of earnings. Never mind that he has severe language and learning disorders, ADHD, and anxiety - he is apparently clever enough to track down some lawyers and sue a government for not teaching him adequately - even with all his handicaps! I say, if he's genius enough to know how to sue then he's genius enough to learn his ABCs all by himself! But, hey, if he's successful then I'm also going to encourage my child to aim low academically and rather sue for his early retirement. Easy peasy and no sweat for me!! What's the bet he wins his case??

A 15-year-old Melbourne student is suing the Victorian Education Department and the State Government for failing to teach him literacy and numeracy.
Lawyers for Year 10 student Stefan Benic have told the Federal Court their client's future is "questionable" and "seriously disadvantaged" after he "missed out on the requirements of an education" at Maribyrnong Secondary College.
The court has heard Stefan had the literacy of a six-year-old when he was accepted into Year 7 at the Maribyrnong Secondary College in 2008.
The court heard although the boy suffers from a severe language disorder, attention deficit hyperactivity disorder, anxiety and a general learning disorder, his intelligence is too high for him to attend a special needs school.
His lawyers have told the court the State Government promises a "world class" education for individual students, but Stefan has been left severely bullied, illiterate and innumerate.
He is also suing the Government for future loss of earnings.
The trial continues.
